Palladium, for instance: why it's "PB" rather than just Beauty or even BEAU, or "PS" instead of STR is beyond me.Doc Savagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08783244633195233970noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2600947515654238699.post-70789995073809669122015-05-26T02:46:37.889-04:002015-05-26T02:46:37.889-04:00I do agree that when clarity is lacking the fault ...I do agree that when clarity is lacking the fault is generally with the writer, and that it's stupid to intentionally make your writing less clear than it potentially can be (without compromising the value of your purpose).RPGPundithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17267330191433119298noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2600947515654238699.post-90334626084243095322015-05-26T02:32:13.589-04:002015-05-26T02:32:13.589-04:00And look how badly put together that next-to-last ...And look how badly put together that next-to-last sentence is...embarrassing.paulierocketshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12535241156724870026noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2600947515654238699.post-75915245580311486552015-05-26T02:30:37.805-04:002015-05-26T02:30:37.805-04:00Jorune...but they had a lot of stuff that wasn'...Jorune...but they had a lot of stuff that wasn't everyday stuff. Whether it was playable or not is a separate issue.

I might add that a lot of people who write...shouldn't. Many are the RPG rules that leave steps out and make things more confusing than they ought to be because the writer didn't edit, edit, edit for clarity. Examples are useful, too. And both in work and game writing I find that the best thing was to have someone who is pretty ordinary and a non-expert read through my text and circle anything that is not absolutely clear. I always assume the fault is in my writing and not in the reader. Writing has to work for the intended reader and not the other way around.paulierocketshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12535241156724870026noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2600947515654238699.post-75115157956288500762015-05-25T20:40:08.318-04:002015-05-25T20:40:08.318-04:00Gygax's Dangerous JourneysGygax's Dangerous Journeys KingofElflandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01725335915535937373noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2600947515654238699.post-15715615218123196542015-05-25T15:22:25.363-04:002015-05-25T15:22:25.363-04:00Those were early offenders, yes. Those were early offenders, yes.RPGPundithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17267330191433119298noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2600947515654238699.post-41689781780343403582015-05-25T11:58:03.818-04:002015-05-25T11:58:03.818-04:00Why am I thinking about White Wolf all of a sudden...Why am I thinking about White Wolf all of a sudden ?Kyorouhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03039756343930755030noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2600947515654238699.post-40405219621311080052015-05-25T04:22:43.463-04:002015-05-25T04:22:43.463-04:00You could expand the rule to those as well. I think you are right on the mark.

I notice you say "system terms." Am I correct in assuming this would not include a glossary of terms relating to the world the game takes place in?paulierocketshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12535241156724870026noreply@blogger.com
