So in our last session, the PCs were called up to try to catch one of the most infamous stagecoach bandits of the American West: Black Bart.
Black Bart was a stagecoach robber who held up a huge number of California stagecoaches, at least 28 robberies were confirmed, though it could have been as many as twice that number. Every single one of these robberies were against the Wells Fargo company, and Wells Fargo wasn't exactly keen to highlight that they were repeatedly humiliated by the outlaw.
Bart was a "gentleman thief", well-spoken, polite to all the ladies, and he even left behind poems at some of his robberies. He never fired a weapon once in all his heists.
The Wells Fargo company decided to hire the PCs, starting with Kid Taylor, to try to find the thief they'd failed to catch in nearly a decade of robberies.
The party was joined by an old friend: Virgil Earp. In spite of having been crippled in one arm by a Cowboy sniper in Tombstone, Virgil was still a skilled lawman, and he took on the job after having already fought in a railroad war following his recovery from his injuries.
The group made a series of investigations after Bart's last heist went slightly wrong for him: a waiting passenger was armed and shot at him, injuring him slightly, and causing him to leave behind some personal items, including a handkerchief with a laundry-mark. Tracing the laundry-mark they eventually found Bart and arrested him.
Bart would be sentenced to six years for his crimes, but was released after only four for good behaviour. Allegedly, the Wells Fargo company paid him a pension after he left jail to prevent him from holding up any more of their coaches.
