Pictures From Uruguay VIII

Today, first, some example of why I say the graffiti in Montevideo is amazing:

(I don't really know what this is supposed to be, but it sure looks interesting!)

(here's the one right on my own street corner; it was recently changed from this to a similar work almost certainly by the same artist featuring another animal; and before this it had an owl)

Next, fruit vendors!  These are found every few blocks:

(this is a corner store called "the Corner"; Pilsen is the local brand of beer)

It goes without saying all these vegetables and fruits are locally grown.  The citrus is especially amazing as far as fruits go, the most delicious oranges and mandarins you could get anywhere.  Note the price: Oranges in the first picture above are currently priced at just barely above $1US/kilo. It works out to about 47 cents a pound, for you Americans.

Anyways, that's it for today. Hope you liked this glimpse of the neighbourhood.
